Prayers for 2012. A little late.

Warning: This is going to be long. No pictures. Oh and yes I realize it's nearly a week
after Jan 1st, but goes...

It's wild to think that it's already 2012. The year that our lives will change forever.
Did you hear that?

Well, yes in a very good way.

In just a few weeks {or less!} we will meet our new baby boy and life as we know it will never be the same. It still doesn't seem real to me but I know we are both so anxious and excited for this new adventure to begin!

When I think about the upcoming year, there's a lot of "resolutions" I could try to commit and make. Then I think "Ok, let's be honest. Should I even set those "lose the baby weight" goals or just set "try to keep my eyes open at night while feeding, not sit around for days in spit-up stained tshirts, while not forgetting to brush my teeth" goals"? I know life with a newborn is going to be...hmmm...difficult. Being first time parents, we certainly have no idea what we are in for but from what I've heard, it's the hardest job we will ever do. Are we ready? Can we handle this?

So I've decided to share my "prayers" for 2012. There's so many things I pray for daily in our lives and there's so many others who weigh heavy on my heart too. I know this year will mostly be centered around the little guy in my belly right now and to be honest, my number one goal is simply to SURVIVE the first year of being parents. Yet there's still so much more I want to achieve...hope for....pray for in the year ahead...

  1. First and foremost, I pray the Lord blesses us with a healthy baby within the next few weeks. I have prayed long and hard for this child, then prayed for his health for nearly 9 months, and now I can't believe the time is finally here. I pray for an easy delivery and if he's a sweet, content, and happy baby too, well then Lord that will be icing on the cake :)
  1. I pray Chad and I are equipped with what we need to be the best parents we can be for Cade. I know we won't be perfect...far from it...but my goal is to strive to be the best we can be and learn more everyday about how to be a parent. Hopefully we will find our "groove" and become an awesome "team".

3. I pray I find balance between being a new mom, a loving wife, a daughter, a helpful sister, a good boss to my employees, as well as a thoughtful friend. I still want to be very involved in helping my sister plan her wedding. I still want to have fun girls nights every month, see long distant friends, maybe take a few vacations this year too. Life will go on, I'll just have a new title under my belt.

4. Regarding #3, I know this is going to be difficult and I usually find myself sacrificing too much for everyone else. I pray I have my priorities straight, stick to them, get what I can get done in a day, and not sit and worry throughout the night "Did I do enough?"

5. I pray for the health of my family. That my sweet baby won't be constantly at the doctor's office or that my precious grandfather won't be faced with cancer again.

6. I especially pray for those family members and friends who aren't in the best health, whether it be battling cancer, Alzheimer's, recent injuries, etc... I pray that there is a CURE for all, health and happiness found in 2012.

7. I pray for those friends whose hearts ache for a baby. I think about this all the time and I'm praying so hard that 2012 is YOUR year!

8. I pray for mine and my husband's jobs. I hope 2012 has big things in store for Sugar and even though I'll be somewhat distracted as a new mom, I pray I continue to give my "first baby" - the store, my work - 100% when I'm there.
[then on the other side, I refuse to take up too much time "working from home" as I tend to do. Everyone knows owning your own business means you work 24/7, but my number one job now will be becoming a mom to Cade. I have to remember this!]

9. I pray that I can continue a good routine of going to church. We may miss a Sunday or two now and then but in 2012 I really want to dedicate myself to going every Sunday and becoming closer with our Sunday School class. Also maybe even re-committing myself to get back into the choir later on in the year. God has blessed us so much and I certainly need to do better at giving back to Him all that I absolutely can.

10. I pray that I can truly soak up every moment of the new year ahead and take not a single second for granted. Every smile my baby boy makes, every new experience/step Chad and I take as parents. Celebrations with my family. Girls nights with friends. I can see through others just how fast time flies and I know that it's all those precious little moments that I'll need to treasure and be THANKFUL for. I pray we take deep breaths, slow down, stop making so many plans and truly take the time to do what we love and just. be. happy.

After all, there is no time like the present.

Now IF I were to make a few resolutions in the back of my mind for 2012, this is what they would be. I'll post them so y'all can hold me accountable, right?

*GET ORGANIZED. I am so sick of being disorganized. At home and at work, my goal is to have a place for everything and everything in its place. Even finances. I've got lots to do. This will deserve its own post soon, watch out*

*Lose the baby weight by my sister's wedding - Dec 15th - major motivation as the MOH! Eeeek! *

*Be better about sending notes, cards, etc... to friends and customers. One of my friends is SO good at this [you know who you are!] My husband works for USPS so I devote myself to helping them by sending more snail mail. There's too many emails/tweets/FB messages these days, maybe more cute cards in the mail is what we need? And btw - the new Lilly Pulitzer Spring stationary just happens to be absolutely adorable! :)

That's it!

If you are still reading, I commend you.

HaPpY nEw YeAr!
